The Luck Of The Irish

Since St. Patrick's Day is this upcoming weekend, I decided to do nails themed for the Irish holiday :)

To achieve this look I used:

CND Solar Oil, Beauty Secrets base coat, Pure Ice in Free Spirit, Sally Hansen in White On, Sally Hansen in clear, Beauty Secrets top coat

I stamped my ring fingers with the four leaf clover on the Winstonia W105 plate

  First I used Solar Oil and filed my nails, then I applied the Sally Hansen White on to my ring fingers and while waiting for that to dry I applied the Pure Ice in Free Spirit.

When I was ready to start stamping, I gathered all of my materials [paper towels, q-tips, acetone, scraper, stamper, polish] and got to work!

I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the Pure Ice polish stamped, because I had to apply two good coats in order to get it to show up on my other nails.

I applied the Beauty Secrets top coat to all of my nails except for my ring fingers {I used the Sally Hansen Insta Dry for those}

And here is the finished product:

Hope you enjoy!

HalfMoon Mani

For my nails this week I decided to attempt the half moon manicure which has recently been making a comeback after being popular in the 20's.  I obsessively looked at different pictures online and brainstormed color combinations all week, trying to stop myself from painting my nails before Sunday, I was just too excited to finally try this new trend! Eventually I decided on using O.P.I. Ate Berries In the Canaries as the bottom layer (and the color that would be the "half moon") and Sinful Colors Night Magic for the top layer. I used Beauty Secrets base coat and top coat along with my new holy grail: Solar Oil (if you don't know what this is, you are missing out!)

To get the half moon shape I used paper reinforcements (remember, from back in the middle school days?) and I just painted around them. Super easy! But I'm getting ahead of myself, first came the base coat, then the Ate Berries In the Canaries polish, and once that was dry I stuck a reinforcement at the top of my nail and painted below with Sinful Colors Night Magic. Once almost dry, I removed the stickers and touched up the polish where needed (the sticker peeled off some of the O.P.I. polish :/ ) Then I applied a top coat and voila! I usually apply the Solar Oil about an hour after my nails dry, and once a day after that.

I took some pictures using my new d.i.y Lightbox ( I used this tutorial, which was amazing!) and my beloved Canon EOS Rebel T3i. I have to say, they look pretty nice!

Hope you enjoy :)

Going for Gold

For my first paint job of the year I was inspired by the beautiful costumes worn by ice skaters (I couldn't tell you why though, I cant ice skate to save my life and live no where near an ice rink!) Anyway, I turned to the good ol' google images and searched and searched until my fingers were sore. Finally I found one that "spoke" to me [I promise I'm not insane] and here it is:

This is a bodysuit available online and I had to talk myself out of buying it, reminding myself what I a spaz I am in skates!

So I went to work trying to find the perfect colors to match my inspiration. I had just gotten 13 or so new polishes for Christmas and I was excited when I realized when two of those polishes would work perfectly for my nails this week!

I Chose Essie's Butler Please:

And Nicole by O.P.I. Disco Dolls:

So after applying my base coat, I applied Butler Please. Then I debated between doing a gradient style glitter or a french mani style stripe.  This was my first time using Disco Dolls and I was surprised (and super excited) that it was a thicker glitter that is gold polish based rather than a traditional clear polish base. So I started to paint the french line at the tip and then applied a base coat! Here is the final product: { also, please excuse my crappy cuticles! This was before I discovered the miracle in a bottle that is Solar Oil.}
